Belvo singing in the rain

Belvo defeated Ballymena by 28-21 at Anglesea Road to move clear by four points at the top of AIL League Division 1B.

The match started in gorgeous sunshine and Old Belvedere blazed in to a two try 12-0 lead with scores from Chris Keane and Mark Cooney.

However, Ballymena pulled it back to 12-11 to set up a tough encounter.

A freak downpour in the second half (see image above) made the conditions heavy going, but Belvo had just enough in the fire to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches so far this season.  Belvo’s third try came from Fergus McFadden.

Bookings now be taken for our Clontarf AIB Cup Lunch

We are pleased to announce that we are now taking bookings for our pre-match lunch prior to our AIB Cup clash with Clontarf.

We face Clontarf on Saturday, November 7th and from 1pm we will be having our usual excellent pre-match entertainment.

As always the lunches are a great way to start the day and a fantastic way to entertain clients and friends.

Belvo grind out draw in awful conditions

Old Belvedere held on for a 3-3 draw away to Young Munster in the AIl last weekend.

Young Munster were camped for most of the second half at or near the Old Belvedere line but they could not manage to get over. Indeed, on three occasions they were held up over the line.

Belvo had both of their props, Daniel Wyeth and Nermin Lovic, sin-binned just before half-time at which stage the sides were deadlocked at 3-3.

Fergus McFadden kicked the Dubliners ahead with a fifth minute penalty and five minutes later Alan Kingsley fired over Young Munster’s only successful penalty.

The home side also had Shane O’Neill sin-binned, while Kingsley unfortunately suffered an ankle injury and had to be replaced.

Old Belvedere Corporate Lunch 2009 - Book Your Place NOW

Bookings are now being taken for the 2009 Corporate Lunch.

The lunch will be held on Friday , 27th November commencing at 1:30pm.

This is the Friday of the weekend of the Ireland V South Africa Autumn International.

This year, as always, we will have some wonderful speakers to entertain you: including Barry Murphy from the ‘Apres Match ‘team.

The cost for a table of ten is €1000 which is E200 less than last year. Seats can also be booked on an individual basis for 120 Euros a head.

This is the fifth year of this event which has been a spectacular success in the past.The event is not only a great social occasion and a fantastic way to entertain clients, but also a crucial fund raiser for Old Belvedere.

Ye Olde Belvedere Halloween Party

Make a date in your diary for the Old Belevedere Halloween party.

We’ll be holding a night of Halloween fun in conjunction with the Genesis Hockey Club on October, 31st. the evening after our match with Ballymena in the AIL. 

We have a DJ booked and we’ll be showing Leinster v Cardiff Blues in the bar from 18:30.

There will also be a prize for the best fancy dress outfit if you are brave enough!
