Belvo defeated Ballymena by 28-21 at Anglesea Road to move clear by four points at the top of AIL League Division 1B.

The match started in gorgeous sunshine and Old Belvedere blazed in to a two try 12-0 lead with scores from Chris Keane and Mark Cooney.

However, Ballymena pulled it back to 12-11 to set up a tough encounter.

A freak downpour in the second half (see image above) made the conditions heavy going, but Belvo had just enough in the fire to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches so far this season.  Belvo’s third try came from Fergus McFadden.
