Belvo made it three wins from three in the Leinster League Cup with a 21-10 victory over Clontarf on Saturday (12th Sept, 2009). The win means Belvo topped their group with three wins from three.
Old Belvedere also became the first holders of the Jack Whelan trophy. The trophy is a memorial to the late Jack Whelan who had close ties with both clubs.
The trophy was presented by Jack’s father Brian Whelan to Belvo captain Andy Dunne after the match.
Earlier the trophy had been presented to the presidents of both Old Belvedere and Clontarf at at pre-match lunch by the President of the IRFU John Callaghan.

Old Belvedere fell at home to Blackrock on Saturday, going down by 22-17, but claiming a losing bonus point.

Old Belvedere maintained their 100% record in the 2008-2009 AIL with a closely fought 16-11 win over Dolphin at Anglesea Road.
Two second-half tries from winger Eddie Devitt and scrum-half Ruarui Cushion were just enough to see the home side through. Fly-half Kieran Hurrell contributed two penalties to Belvo’s tally.
Dolphin fought hard until the end and scored a penalty in injury-time to take a deserved bonus point.
Belvo now sit in joint second place in the AIL with Clontarf. Blackrock, with an extra bonus point to their credit, top the table.
