Old Belvedere Legend Raises Money for Homeless World Cup
Anglesea Road was recently the venue for a high profile charity event raising money for the Homeless World Cup. View the pics here.
Dozens of teams competed in a rugby penalty shootout competition to win a fantastic prize of a group trip to Italy for the Six Nations. All money raised on the event was used to fund Ireland’s Street League Soccer team which is taking part in the Homeless World Cup in Australia this December.
Those competing in the day’s fun were expertly coached by Belvedere legend Ollie Campbell, with former rugby teammates Ciaran Fitzgerald, Fergus Slattery and Mick Quinn popping in and adding their advice.
It was a splendid occasion with the Garda Siochana winning the coveted prize. The Gardai scored an incredible 13 from 15, with Landwell solicitors coming in second with 10 points.
In a magnanimous gesture the Garda donated their winning prize back to the Street League to help raise further funds.
The event was covered throughout the day by 98FM.
Best of luck to the Irish team this December in Oz and many thanks to Olllie Campbell for his sterling work on the day.
